The International Jousting Championships take place in Angels Camp, CA. The event was originally hosted at the Sonora Fairgrounds in Sonora, CA, but moved for its fourth year. Jousting is the main event, but there's a lot going on and its a bit hard to really define the event; there's nothing else really like it. The Old World Jousting Village covers several acres with encampments, historical reenactors and crafts people. There's good music and its not all what you might think; we've had everything from the pipes and drums of Wicked Tinkers to the traditional irish sounds of Dervish and Teada. In 2005 the upbeat Irish/American group Young Dubliners headlines while classic rockers Crazy Ivan rock the pub with blues, pop and a bit of heavy metal. For the shoppers out there the Celtic Marketplace offers all kinds of wares. There's food and drink a plenty, plus street performers, belly dancers, archery and armored combat. Its a great time so come on down and join us.
